This is where I got the css - there only seem to be a couple problems that have me gnashing my teeth at this point: the journal title isn't showing up, and the red lines along the right aren't showing up. Which, I'm told, is because it's based on the Penguins layout - the lines sit where whatever the penguins graphic is would sit.
Your explanation gave me a thought though - DW apparently will allow you to create a theme based on a style, the same as it does for inserting LJ layers; I tried creating a theme based on minimalism and pasted in the lj Penguins code, but it compiled with errors, too. I don't know if that would make things simpler, or just complicate it further - but I thought it would be worth trying. xp
